2018 Summer Art Camp

Weekdays June 18 - August 24, 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Summer Art Camp Classes @ studio 10 with Charlotte Ibach, artist/educator.

Classes will run 10 weeks, beginning June 18 thru August 24. Classes will be held at studio 10, beginning at 9:30, ending at 12:30, M thru F. With the exception of week 3, no class on the 4th. Bring your ideas and a desire to create! For ages 10 to 15.

Week One: June18-22 Art al Fresco! Every day in this class we will walk to a different location within the park. The daily life and scenery will be our inspiration . I will provide an array of mediums to try- pencils, charcoal, pens, chalk, water colors…lots of possibilities! Put together a portfolio at the end of the week to take home. $175 supplies included.

Week Two: June25-29 Acrylic Painting. Begin with your own idea of what you want to paint. Next, composition or lay-out, then choose colors and brushes and you’re off! We will discuss  color theory and do some color mixing. You can try some new brush techniques and learn how to use a palette knife. Also, find out about acrylic mediums and how they work. Spend the entire week making paintings here in beautiful Balboa Park.  $175 supplies included.

Week Three: July 2,3, (4- no class) 5,6 Cartooning. Come up with your own story, create some characters and start drawing. Learn how to ink, clean and colorize your comics. Find out how to make your hero look super good and how to make your villain look super bad. An array of materials will be provided for you to try- pencils, charcoal, pens, water colors…lots of possibilities!  $140 supplies included (4 day week due to holiday).

Week Four: July 9-13  Found Object Art. Start out Monday on a hike through Palm Canyon, here in the park, and collect objects to work with all week. We will be working with hand tools, painting and decorating, and finishing off with beads and leather and much more! You can make masks, walking sticks, mobiles, instruments, your imagination is your guide.  $175 supplies included.

Week Five: July 16-20 Art al Fresco! $175 supplies included.

Week Six: July 23-27 Acrylic Painting. $175 supplies included.

Week Seven: July 30-August 3 Cartooning. $175 supplies included.

Week Eight: August 6-10 Found Object Art. $175 supplies included.

The Kids Don’t Get To Have All the Fun!!!

All you need to bring is yourself and a willingness to learn some new skills. A juried    Spanish Village artist will be teaching a different medium each day during the week.

Five juried artists/teachers; Five media

Artists/teacher will supply all materials (unless otherwise noted)

 

Camp will be held on the Spanish Village Art Center patio (1770 Village Place, San Diego, CA 92101)

Registration information:Each class will have a maximum of 15 students. We have two of the adult camps at the same time as the kids camps so parents/grandparents can go to camp at the same time as their kiddies.

STUDIO 36 Sculptors Guild Classes

Sign up for Saturday morning classes from 9:00 to 12:00am, taught by award-winning classical sculptor, Patty Palenschat.

Just $35 a class, a pay-as-you go, for beginning, intermediate, and advanced students.  You will receive individual attention to produce something you will be very proud of, get it fired at the studio, and finish it with a beautiful patina.  The instructor is a graduate in art from UCLA, a teaching credential from SDSU, and studied under A. Wasil, Mary Buckman, Moon Kim, and Barcelona’s Jorge Egea.

Abstract Acrylic Lessons with Madeline

3 hour lesson • $175

Open to beginners and Intermediates • Do not need to draw. Learn techniques and properties of acrylics by creating a sampler Layering, lifting, mixed-media embellishment, use of surfactants, alcohol alteration, sgrafitti will be experienced.
